Federalist Tip 1: How Relationship Building with Local Leaders Benefits The Community

Build Lelationships with Local Leadership

· Federalist Tips

Have you ever experienced a local issue with crime, excessive taxation, or infrastructure, but did not know what to do about it?

Your tax dollars are at work across your state, and it is important that citizens know how to engage with their local legislators and civic leaders to accomplish goals for the community. At AAEARF, our goal is to support Americans who are struggling with unresolved issues in their community to access the tools our constitution grants us and find solutions.

When dealing with a local issue, make a list of all your state leaders. Who are your state senators? Do you know who they are and where their office is? Make a point to stop by the state house and introduce yourself. Do you know the local fire and police chief? Communication and relationships are the best way to protect you and your family. Bring your spouse and children, so that the local leaders know who they are, and can look out for them.

Relationship building is the key to successful civic engagement.
